I think as dancers we all know that dance is a more strenuous and physically demanding sport than American football. Recently, the media has brought to light the dangers of football specifically on young people in high school and middle school. Concussions are common in the football community, but can be extremely dangerous for growing boys and girls. While I'm not diminishing the importance of the safety precautions needed for youth American football leagues, we do need to talk about safety in ballroom dance because DAMN these dancers are SAVAGE. I was recently at a competition, and some of these dancers have no chill. I saw more female dancers have their head "accidentally" smashed into other female's heads than helmets clanking in a football game. Moral of the story- ballroom dancing is dangerous because the competition is real and these dancers have their claws out and are ready to draw blood.
